KMS bomb threat
After a thorough search of the facilities, Knoxville Middle School will have a normal class schedule Friday following another bomb threat against the school.

Knoxville Community School District Superintendent Cassi Murra said dozens of officers from the Knoxville Police Department, Marion County Sheriff’s Office, and Knoxville Fire and Rescue, searched the building for several hours along with school officials. As an added precaution, the school computer network was searched for Internet activity on sites related to bombs, weapons, or threats. Nothing was discovered from the search.
The threat was discovered at the end of the day Thursday written on the wall of a girls’ restroom. It stated, “Bomb is going to go off Friday at 11:00 it is hidin.”
The building is being monitored overnight and further precautions will be taken to ensure the safety of all students and staff Friday. Law enforcement will be present and bags will be searched upon entering the building.
This is the second bomb threat made against KMS in two weeks. Two eighth grade boys were each charged with Conspiracy to Commit Terrorism, a class D Felony. One of the students has been expelled while the other has an expulsion hearing next week.
If parents wish to keep their children home, they are asked to contact the school prior to 9am. These will be treated as an excused absence.
Murra adds that KCSD takes these threats seriously and appreciates the assistance of local law enforcement and emergency management teams. She asks that anyone with information regarding this threat to contact her at 641-751-5891.
