Marion County Public Health will be holding a workshop on radon awareness Thursday.

Environmental Health Program Manager Cory Frank calls radon a “silent killer” since it’s the second leading cause of lung cancer. The radioactive, odorless gas seeps through the soil and has been linked to causing cancer in individuals who have had prolonged exposure to it.
Frank says they will be handing out free radon test kits to the first 50 individuals who attend.
The radon awareness workshop will be held at the Marion County Public Health training room beginning at 5:30pm.
