A possible electrical issue is believed to be the cause of a smoke call at Whylie Eye Care Center in Knoxville Friday.

Knoxville Fire and Rescue and the Knoxville Police Department responded to the call around 11:45am to a commercial fire alarm. According to reports, the employees at Whylie notice a smell of smoke and haziness throughout the day that was making some employees sick. Employees were told to evacuate the building and crews inspected the building.
Knoxville Fire Chief Jim Mitchell says they believe a ballast in a fluorescent light in the businesses break room was the source of the smoke and odor. He says the owner of Whylie contacted an electrician to further investigate.
No injuries were reported. Mitchell says that employees were allowed to sit inside an ambulance to keep warm from the frigid temperatures.
