It may have only been a triangular, but the Central men’s golf team faced some early-season stiff competition and prevailed in the three-team Beach Bash down in Sorrento, Florida yesterday. The Dutch carded a 293 to beat Division II Illinois Springfield by eight strokes. NAIA school, Mount Vernon Nazarene, put up a 318 team score. David Watson for the Dutch was the meet medalist, with a four-under round of 68, and the other three top golfers for Central were in the mid-70s for the day. The Dutch are off until March 29 and 30 to compete in the Webster Gorlok Invitational in Eureka and St. Louis, Missouri.
