It was another up-and-down day for the Central softball team on Saturday on their home field. The Dutch offense was stifled in a 2 – 1 loss to St. Benedict in the first game of the doubleheader. The game-tying run was thrown out at the plate trying to score on a bunt attempt. Central responded with a 10 – 1, five-inning victory over St. Norbert, thanks to a trio of dingers off of Dutch bats. They put up five runs in the third and fourth innings with homers from Whitney Sowers, Kaitlyn Matzen, and Paige Schreiner. The Dutch sit at 17 – 6, and they’ll play another game with St. Norbert today and also take on St. Scholastica. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
