Hoping to get back on track, the Central baseball team is up in Waverly today for a doubleheader versus Wartburg to begin their Iowa Conference schedule. The Dutch have lost seven of their last eight, three of them by one-run margins. The Knights are 4 – 0 in the league so far, after sweeping a four-game set over Coe last weekend. Wartburg has dropped only one game so far; their first of the season on March 1 during a trip to Florida. Powerful offense and inscrutable pitching have steered the Knights to where they are; clobbering 18 home runs as a team in 15 games with the pitching staff carrying a 2.78 ERA. Coach Matt Schirm says his guys need to have an all-around solid effort to keep up with the Knights. The first game of the doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., with the nightcap to start around six.
