It wasn’t the fondest of farewells for the Central baseball team on Saturday, as they dropped in the 11th inning to Concordia on the final day of their Tucson, Arizona spring break trip, 10 – 9. The Dutch led 6 – 1 early after three frames and 8 – 1 after five, but a four-run seventh and single runs in the sixth, eighth, and ninth forced extra innings. Central stranded eight runners on base for the game, including the game-winning run in the bottom of the tenth. Dutch pitchers allowed three home runs, including the go-ahead shot in the top of the 11th. Their record stands at 4 – 6, and they’re back on the road for their next game on Wednesday at Grinnell.
