The Pella Christian boys’ and girls’ track teams begin their spring seasons today at separate locations. The Eagle boys stay at home to compete in a quad against Des Moines Christian, Twin Cedars, and Lynnville-Sully. Last year, this very same meet saw temperatures in the 30s and low 40s with light rain off and on, but tonight, temps are expected to be in the 60s and 70s, making for an ideal day to begin the track season. Coach Keith Anderson says today’s opener is a great way for his guys to see which events they should and should not be focusing on. The Eagles’ girls head over to PCM for a large meet in Monroe. Coach Kevin Herdegen also says variety is the spice of life, and tonight’s competition should give them an idea of where they are at moving forward when they get into tougher meets against conference schools. The girls’ meet at PCM is scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m. with the Eagle boys at home beginning at 4:45.
