Pella Christian’s girls’ basketball team was a mixture of young gals and experienced upperclassmen who, for the most part, were trying to figure out their roles as the season wore on. Some injuries to key players, namely freshman Kaley Wilson and senior Tessa Howerzyl, forced the issue a bit, especially with the ninth and tenth graders. Tessa’s ankle injury forced her out towards the beginning of the 2015 portion of their schedule, when the Eagles had to face Norwalk, Grinnell, and Dallas Center-Grimes. In fact, the Eagles held their own against the Fillies until a late third quarter run put D-C-G up by ten. Coach Kevin Van Maanen says even with some major contributors out, it did not effect the rest of the team’s attitude. Pella Christian advanced all the way to the regional semifinals against Des Moines Christian and had a record of 13 – 11.
