A lack of additional state funding has led the Knoxville Community School District to include a slight property tax increase in their Fiscal Year 2015-2016 budget.

Superintendent Cassi Murra says if there’s no increase to state supplemental aid (SSA), the district will qualify for the budget guarantee, which is a levy of additional property taxes to make sure they receive the same amount of money for the upcoming year as they did the previous one.
Murra says that the property tax increase can be adjusted, if the Iowa Legislature provides schools with some sort of SSA before the session ends.
A public hearing on the budget will be held during the next school board meeting in the Board of Education Meeting room on Monday, April 13th, beginning at 5:30pm.
