Cold weather continues to delay the start of work on the Downtown Streetscape project in Knoxville.
The project was supposed to resume February 23rd but was delayed until March 2nd because of the weather. Hawkeye Paving now says they won’t start work on Streetscape until March 9th. Assistant City Manager Aaron Adams says once work does get underway, construction will begin first along Main Street between Second and Third Streets. When sewer work is completed there, construction work along Robinson between Second and First Streets will begin. Construction is expected to be completed by the Knoxville Nationals in August. A meeting to provide an updated timeline on the project will be held on Tuesday, March 17th, in the Community Room at Knoxville City Hall. The public is welcome to attend.
