Cassi Murra 2
The following is a letter from Knoxville Schools Superintendent Cassi Murra to District 28 State Representative Greg Heartsill and District 14 State Senator Amy Sinclair asking them to support an increase in state supplemental aid (SSA):

Good afternoon, Senator Sinclair and Representative Heartsill~
After reading about the House Ways and Means Committee passing a massive tax cut bill, I feel obligated to reach out once again to implore you to support a 4% Supplemental State Aid package for Iowa School Districts! Our children and their education deserve to be adequately funded before the legislature ever considers giving more money back to the wealthiest Iowans! The message is clear that the money to fund 4% SSA is there, and it truly is more about the priorities of our Representatives and Senators on where this money will be allocated. You have the power to make a difference! PLEASE be our advocate and insist our schools be adequately funded at 4% for FY16.
If you don’t feel the State of Iowa can afford to fund schools to this level, I would also expect you would vote against ANY tax cut bills that are presented to you. I know children and education are important to both of you and truly believe you will demonstrate this by the way you vote on these bills.
Yours in Education~
Cassi Murra
