Pella Christian continues it’s push in the Class 2A State Tournament as they take on Iowa City Regina this afternoon in the Semifinals round. The Eagles boys are looking to play in the finals for the first time since 2009. Iowa City Regina is playing in their first tournament in 13 years and earned their first victory since 1986 against Cascade on Tuesday, 45-32.
Assistant Coach Marv Van Wyk says Regina has a similar look to the Western they were able to topple on Tuesday. He says at this late point in the season, it’s very important for teams to continue to excel at their strengths. Sophomore David Kacmarynski says his team will be ready to try and slow down another top notch player in Regina’s Drew Cook.
Cook is averaging just over 22 points per game on the season, and posted 17 points and 14 rebounds against Cascade on Tuesday. Pre-game coverage begins at 3:15 p.m. on 92.1 KRLS and online at KNIAKRLS.com, with a scheduled start time of 3:45 at Wells Fargo Arena. Andrew Schneider and Wynne Veenstra have the call.
