One local representative has proposed a massive tax cut at the Iowa Statehouse.
Representative Guy Vander Linden introduced a bill in the Iowa House Ways and Means committee that would allow Iowans to either pay income tax as it is or a flat tax from their base income. Vander Linden says the proposal wouldn’t impact the budget this year if it passes. He sees the bill as an investment, and feels it would pay off with more revenue through economic stimulus in the future. The bill passed the committee level last week, but Vander Linden doesn’t anticipate the bill will pass this session due to a split legislature.
