Firefighters spent hours battling an out-of-control fire north of Pella on Tuesday night.
The Pella Rural Fire Department responded to a call from a neighbor at 8:45 p.m. of corn stalk bales on fire behind a home at 2044 Clemens Street. The fire was headed towards the caller’s cattle lot, and many animals were loose while crews fought the blaze. The Monroe Fire Department was called in to assist with water tankers. Pella Ambulance and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office also responded.
