There could be a delay in the cleanup of a damaged Marion County building in downtown Knoxville.

Demolition began Monday on the building at 113 & 115 Third Street on the Knoxville Square and it was discovered that the building shared a common wall with Prudential First of Knoxville Realty.
Marion County Maintenance Director Cal Stephens says while some cleanup efforts can continue, work on taking out the rest of the building must be halted until a structural engineer can see if the wall is load bearing.
Prudential remains closed at this time until a determination can be made on the common wall. Gibson Jewelry and Plush Pony are open.
