The newly revised Application for Disabled Veterans’ Homestead Tax Credit is available at the Veterans Affairs office in Knoxville, Director Mike Kuhn tells KNIA KRLS News. He says the application form, along with a current “benefits paid letter” must be submitted no later than July 1, to obtain the tax exemption this year. Kuhn says the form should be submitted to the assessor’s office by qualified 100% disabled veterans and DIC claimants.

later than July 1, 2014 to obtain the tax exemption this year. The Benefits Paid Letter may
be obtained by contacting U.S. Veterans Affairs at 1-800-827-1000, visiting a U.S. Veterans
Affairs office (in Des Moines: 210 Walnut Street, Des Moines, IA 50309), or through the
veteran’s e-benefits account online.

The application form is available on the Iowa Department of Revenue website
(www.iowa.gov/tax), the Iowa Department of Veterans Affairs website (https://va.iowa.gov),
or at the local county assessor’s office.
