Prospective homeowners looking to buy or move houses in 2019 and are applying for a mortgage will have more than finances to keep in mind during the process.

Amanda Krenz with Community 1st Credit Union in Indianola tells KNIA News applying for a mortgage is not just crunching numbers, it is a person-to-person exercise with a loan officer.

“I want to get to know you, I want to know what you want to accomplish with this process. I want to know about your family, or your job, or where you see yourself in the future. And you want to find someone who cares about those things, and there are lots of them out there. Many times people will get in contact with one from their realtor, and that is a great thing. But don’t stop there if you don’t feel comfortable. Find someone who is a good fit for you, because it is a very intimate process.”

Krenz also said it is good to do know as much about the process beforehand, and to ask your loan officer as many questions as possible.
