Bricks are currently available for the public from the ongoing demolition of the former Knoxville Middle School.

The demolition project officially started on Monday, January 8th and the demolition company, Midwest Demolition Contractors, is leaving bricks outside of the fence that the community can take to have a piece of the former building. Anyone can stop by and grab a brick from outside the fence. The goal for the KCSD and the City of Knoxville is to continue collaborating on an agreement that would make the site the home for a new Public Safety/City Hall facility. KCSD Business Manager Craig Mobley says they are making great progress on the demolition.

“They will be recycling 85-90% of that building by the end of that project which is great. They’re making good progress and you will probably see a lot more progress happening over the next month.”

The contract for the demolition states that the project will be complete by April 1st.
