A Knoxville man was recently arrested on drug trafficking charges.

According to court records, the Knoxville Police Department pulled over a vehicle driven by Cannon Jay Brown, 25, for a malfunctioning brake light. Brown informed the officer he did not have a valid driver’s license and did not own the car. After receiving permission to search the car from the owner, who told police Brown did not have permission to use the car, the officer found a bag with three hypodermic needles, a digital scale, and several baggies filled with methamphetamine.

Brown also admitted that he had used drugs the previous morning, and refused to give a sample for testing. Brown was charged with possession with intent to deliver more than 5 grams of methamphetamine, a class B felony, failure to affix a drug tax stamp, a class D felony, and an OWI second offense among other charges.
