While the Central College women’s golf team clinched its spot into the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament last fall, it wasn’t until earlier this week that they learned their seeding and first round pairings.

The Dutch are seeded 15th in the 22-team field for the tournament, and will be paired on the first two days with 13th-seeded Hope and 17th-seeded Mount Union.

Each team is guaranteed to play three rounds, with the top 15 making the cut to play a fourth round. Central Coach Tim Wilkinson says that’s their goal, to make the cut, and it will just require them to play to their seed.

“That’s not a guarantee by any means, but if nothing else, I hope it gives the girls a little confidence that this is what we’ve played to (so far this season). If you look at it on paper, then yeah, we should make the cut. But there are teams above us that aren’t going to play as well and teams below us that play better. All we can do is worry about ourselves.”

The tournament will be held at Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston, Texas. The Dutch leave Saturday, will get to practice Sunday and Monday, including one round on the course, and then first round play begins next Tuesday.
