In the latest RPI football rankings released by the Iowa High School Athletic Association, a two-team race is shaping up in Class 1A District 7.
Pella Christian stand at No. 8, mostly lifted by their strongest in 1A schedule rankings, despite standing at 3-2. At the top is 5-0 Interstate 35, who defeated Woodward-Granger 24-20 last Friday. Both teams clash in Week 9. If both teams hold serve, the meeting will be for the district crown. Pella Christian will have to win on the road at Pleasantville this Friday, a game that can be heard both on 92.1 KRLS and the KNIA3 stream.
In the rest of the RPI rankings for local playoff contenders, PCM has a large gap between them and 2nd place Spirit Lake as the No. 1 team in Class 2A. The lack of success of Pella’s head-to-head opponents has kept the Dutch at No. 9 in this week’s rankings in 3A, despite their perfect record. Tune into Football Friday Night coverage this Friday on KNIA/KRLS, beginning at 5 p.m.
