According to the latest USDA Drought Monitor, Marion County is still under a moderate drought. The drought is spreading across Iowa with small portions of the state now in a severe drought. Justin Huebner at Two Rivers Cooperative in Pella, says that the corn crop is beginning to fire around the tops and bottoms in an effort to save moisture for the rest of the plant. He says if we don’t get a big rainfall in 7 to 10 days the crop will be in trouble.
