Around 75 people attended a crop insurance meeting that was held in Pella on Friday last week. The meeting brought in experts on various topics that ranged all the way from federal crop insurance requirements, to a cattle expert, Byron Leu, who talked about using corn silage as feed to help producers who have run into problems feeding cattle because fields have gone dormant in the drought. Leu says that many producers will be sending cattle to market earlier than usual because of the difficulties in feeding.
