The Iowa Department of Human Services continued their restructuring plans this morning with a stop at the Marion County. DHS representatives were at the Knoxville office to deliver restructuring notices to employees, informing them that their local positions in Marion County will be eliminated on July 1st. Most employees will be able to maintain their current positions by relocating to other offices in Polk and Warren counties. In a letter given to employees from director Charles Krogmeier states, “we have not taken any of our decisions lightly and realize we are making a major change in the lives of our staff and our clients.” He continues to say that in order to realign and implement the new structure they are going to have to do several steps very rapidly. Roger Munns from the DHS Public Information office tells KNIA/KRLS news there are comparable positions available for almost all of the 88 workers whose positions are being eliminated in Marion County, if they choose to apply and be relocated. The majority of positions will be filled based on seniority.
