Discussions continued at the latest Indianola School Board meeting about the expansion of the ag program at Indianola High School. Superintendent Art Sathoff tells KNIA News the main discussion was how to most effectively serve the ag students in the district.

“Our current ag instructor is a full time teacher, and very busy with great numbers in the ag program. The discussion with the board was whether the greatest need for assistance was in the classroom, or outside the experience with FFA. We did this year hire a second FFA sponsor to help with the outside of the classroom things. I do expect the conversation and discussion to continue in the HR committee on the board, and the full board as we go into May.”

During the public comments period at previous board meetings, several ag students and parents have advocated for a second ag teacher to be added to staff to help facilitate continued growth of the program.
