When tomorrow morning’s Class 3A state baseball semifinal involving Pella High comes around, the Little Dutch will have a chance to kill two birds with one stone. They will be playing Carlisle, the same team that beat them in walk-off fashion on a home run in the seventh inning to begin the season all the way back on May 23. Friday is also July 29, almost exactly a year to the date that the Little Dutch let a late lead slip away versus Harlan in the 2015 state semifinals. Coach Jesse Jablonski says tomorrow’s game and Saturday’s potential state championship game are dates that this year’s team have had their sights on for awhile. “Finish It” has been Pella’s slogan this summer as they chase after the school’s first state baseball championship and Pella’s third overall state title in the 2015-16 school year. The Little Dutch and Wildcats will play on Friday at 11:00 a.m., and coverage of the semifinal match begins at 10:30 on 92.1 KRLS, KNIAKRLS.com, and our free KRLS mobile app.
