“Thursdays in Pella” is all about the environment this week, as “Go Green” will be the theme for the event. Displays from Midwest Sanitation and Central College will emphasize recycling, proper waste disposal and sustainability; while Koopman Construction, Pella Corporation and Van Haaften Plumbing and Heating will feature displays on building energy-efficient homes. Event co-chairman Paul Kingma says a new walk-through display from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources will also be on site for the event, also courtesy of Midwest Sanitation.

“They’ve also coordinated with the Iowa DNR, which is going to bring in a new trailer,” says Kingma. “It’s our understanding that it will be the first time it is on display to the public, and it will be a walk-through, interactive exhibit where you can see things that the DNR are doing about problems in the state of Iowa.”

The evening will also feature the popular Corporate Challenge, as well as food vendors and a performance by the Pella City Band to close out the night. “Thursdays in Pella” runs from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in downtown Pella.
