Knoxville Police Department Lt. Aaron Fuller tells KNIA KRLS News that beginning this week, law enforcement across the state will step up their efforts and increase presence. “The number one priority of this Special Traffic Enforcement Program (sTEP) is to SAVE LIVES.” says Randy Hunefeld, sTEP Coordinator with the Iowa Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau – GTSB. Lt. Fuller says that extra officers will be out in Knoxville, and be watching for and enforcing seat belt use and speed limits. Fuller says the effort is maintained through the holidays, because traffic increases, which therefore increases violations as well as accidents. The (GTSB) says that this high visibility traffic enforcement event will begin November 25, 2013 and run through December 1, 2013.
