The first program in a Democratic legislative education series was held last night in Knoxville. State Senator Jack Hatch spoke to about 30 people about Healthcare reform and what can be expected when sign-up begins October 1. Hatch stressed that the public supports most of the provisions of the law–including removing insurance coverage exemptions for preconditions and lifetime dollar amount coverage limits. He also says that costs will be lower because it is market driven, and because emergency room visits by those without insurance will be minimized. Hatch is a White House advisor on state-level healthcare reform. He’s also a Democratic candidate for Governor next year.
