It’s been over a year since high school track and field athletes in Iowa competed — and on Monday, those from several area schools will take their first step back on the oval.

Athletes from Pella, Indianola, PCM, and Pleasantville are among those competing at the Dickinson Indoor Relays at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

The Lady Dutch are sending a pair of 2019 state qualifiers in a small group, including sprinters Emily McMartin and Calla Kerndt, who will be joined by Delanie Reynolds and Marissa Hackman in the 60 meters and 200 meter races. Pella will also have a 4×200 relay competing.

PCM’s Chelsea Bird, Margo Chipps, and Delaney Baird will each compete in two races, including the 60 meter hurdles (Bird/Chipps), 200 meter dash (Baird/Bird), and 400 meter dash (Baird/Chipps).

Indianola is bringing a large contingent of athletes to compete, including Grace Gioffredi, Patrica Steinfeldt, Rayna Sickels, Anna Young, Avery Howe, Piper Dahl, Katie O’Neil, Emily Naughton, Joey Werling, Grace Jackson, Macy Mays, and three total relays.

Pleasantville is also sending multiple athletes to the races, including Amy Kish, Hailey Klein, Kendall Krichau, Kennedy Pelzer, Taya Cox, Sydney Septer, Kennadi Fulmer, Madilyn Rowson, Dannin Hintz, Hailey Holsinger, Danika Park, Azell Smith, Taryn Brent, Peyton Seuferer, Olivia Anthony, and Kayle Hodnfield all scheduled to compete. They will also have three relays running.
