In ten and a half weeks, Iowa’s best track and field athletes will compete for state championships at the famous blue oval in Drake Stadium. The first of many competitions between now and then will begin today as several area athletes head to the Dickinson Indoor Relays at the University of Northern Iowa, with the girls racing this afternoon and boys in action Tuesday from high schools all over the state.

Dozens of athletes from Pella, PCM, and Pleasantville are among those in action for the first day in Cedar Falls, while Norwalk — despite the boys run in the Class 4A state basketball tournament, will have several Warriors in action joining those three schools Tuesday.

This comes ahead of Thursday and Friday’s Iowa Track Coaches Association Indoor Championships Thursday and Friday.
