Five juveniles believed to be part of a group that committed multiple thefts from cars and homes this summer have been charged. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says that the Knoxville Police Department filed petitions with Marion County Juvenile Court concerning these individuals earlier today. The Department says an estimated $6000 worth of items has been recovered during the investigation. The five juveniles are males 16 and 17 years old. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says that they cleared 16 cases with the arrests.

Losada adds that a citizen informed them that on the night of August 7-8, they saw people wearing masks and messing with cars in a parking lot. The citizen was able to describe the car the individuals left in to the department. Officers later found the car and identified the occupant. This led to the series of interviews that led to today’s petitions.

The case is still under investigation.
