The Knoxville City Council met in regular session last night. At the meeting, the council approved the 2011-2012 City budget along with the sale of real property at 501 South 1st Street to Habitat for Humanity. In addition, the council also received an update on the Streetscape Project design from Veenstra and Kimm, approved Knoxville Fire and Rescue cadet members, set beggar’s night for Monday October 31st and approved an agreement with the Iowa Department of Transportation for maintenance of primary roads.

Also approved was an order for bids for the 2011 sidewalk and paving projects, the purchase of a replacement patrol car from Motor Inn of Knoxville for $21,155, a contract with Dan’s Plumbing and Heating for City Hall chiller and heat system repair at $45 per joint and the cost of engineering services for the Graceland Cemetery Foster Addition with Veenstra and Kimm for $13,061 which is $11,939 less than the amount budgeted for design costs through the GO bond.
