Knoxville Mayor Don Zoutte says that the Pocket Park naming committee will be meeting June 2 to continue their discussion of the name for the new park. Former Knoxville Mayor Harv Sprafka, who was instrumental in attracting funds to create the park, has suggested that it be named in honor of David and Stephanie Brooks, longtime public servants who did their best to beautify the town and make Knoxville a better place to live. Zoutte says the committee is also considering the possibility of calling the park “Legacy Park,” or something similar, which would allow many others who have also contributed generously to the community to be honored as well.
