Central College’s softball season came to an end Saturday with a pair of losses to Linfield in the NCAA Super Regionals at the Kuyper Athletic Complex. Play was suspended Friday with the score tied 4-4, and Central struck quickly when play resumed, grabbing a 6-4 advantage going to the 7th inning. But Central’s defense buckled as the Wildcats mounted a 5-run frame to rally and win game one 9-6. In game two, Linfield led from start to finish, scoring three times in the first inning, building a 5-2 lead, and ending the game via the run rule with a five-run sixth to win 10-2. Central’s 2015 campaign closes with a record of 34-12, while Linfield advances to the NCAA finals next week in Salem, Virginia.
