It’s a mixture of old and new this season for the Pella High baseball team. The Little Dutch boast a corps of seniors that have been a foundation for the program for multiple seasons, but are also depending on a number of younger contributors – all under the guidance of new head coach, Al Vasher. Seniors Schyler Kane, Brett Kingery and Trevor Wood talked with KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall on this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program about what’s been new this season, why their win over Grinnell was so important, and why this weekend’s game against Pella Christian should be one of the highlights of their season.

Newton Again Nips Pella High Baseball Team

Explosive Seventh Helps Pella Baseball Hand Grinnell First Loss

Behind solid hitting at the bottom of the line-up and a strong performance on the mound by Schyler Kane, the Pella High baseball team was able to do something no other squad had done yet against Grinnell this season – earn a win – as the Dutch toppled the Tigers 10-4 Friday night in Pella.

Marion County PM Sports Page – Pella Boys Soccer

For the first time since 2002, the Pella High boys soccer team has earned a spot in the State Tournament, and the Little Dutch are aiming to make the most of the opportunity. Led by senior captains Grant Barrick, Tukker Bogaard and Sam Davis, Pella has assembled a 17-2-1 overall record and will open up the tournament against Spirit Lake Park-Okoboji tomorrow afternoon. KNIA/KRLS Sports Director Eric Gotschall talked with the captains after practice in an interview featured in this week’s Marion County PM Sports Page program to ask what it took to get to this point, how they’ve improved along the way, and why this team has what it takes to be a State Champion.

Boyd Leads Charge as Pella Boys Finish Fifth at State Golf Meet
