It was not a pretty sight in Illinois Wednesday evening as the Central Dutch women’s basketball team fell to Monmouth, 81 – 48. The Fighting Scots drained 18 of their 30 first half shots and led by 20 with just under five minutes to play in the first half. The Dutch women struggled to get any kind of run going, getting the ball taken away 20 times by Monmouth and going a frigid 2-for-23 from long range. Central shot 31.5 percent from the field for the game and were out-rebounded 41 – 35. Rachel Evans was the top scorer for the Dutch, and the only one in double figures in any category, with ten points. Hilary Beaird grabbed six boards to lead all players. The 7 – 4 Central women will rest up for a few days before beginning Iowa Conference play at Coe College this Saturday.
