One of the legends of Indy Car racing will be recognized this year at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum, by way of a special exhibit dedicated to his career.

The museum by the Knoxville Raceway will host an exhibit honoring A.J. Foyt for his career and his contributions to racing; the display opens today.

Bob Baker from the museum tells KNIA/KRLS News they are honored to be able to show their patrons some of Foyt’s legacy.

“We very are fortunate in that A.J. was one of our museum’s very first inductees when the Hall of Fame first started back in 1992,” Baker says. “It’s going to be great to have a salute to champion A.J. Foyt here and see all those Indianapolis 500-winning race cars we’ve got scheduled to be on exhibit, in addition to the other race cars that A.J. drove.”

Nine cars will be on display, the largest Salute to Champion exhibit the museum has ever had; also on display will be racing suits, helmets, trophies and other memorabilia as well as video interviews with Foyt.

The exhibit will be on display at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum through October 1st.
