An Ottumwa man was arrested in Knoxville for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm. According to court documents, this past Friday law enforcement officers were informed that 33-year-old Adam Hegwood of Ottumwa had a warrant out for his arrest and was staying at a residence in the 1400 block of Newbold Drive in Knoxville. Officers were also informed that Hegwood, a convicted felon, had obtained the homeowners 9mm pistol without the homeowners consent. The homeowner confronted Hegwood about the pistol at which time Hegwood returned the pistol to the homeowner. Officers were able to locate Hegwood and arrested him. When officers questioned Hegwood about the pistol, he admitted to having had it in his possession. Hegwood was arrested and charged with control of a firearm by a felon a class D felony.
