Marion County officials are considering building an outdoor warning-siren in Attica, which, if approved, would be the communities’ first. County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says a truck hauling the siren will be in Attica for a demonstration Tuesday, September 29th, at 11 a.m. in Attica. In 2008 an F2 tornado ripped through the area, and destroyed the Indiana Township Fire Station, among other properties. This summer the Rebuild Iowa Organization awarded Marion County $25,000, which Anderson says could go towards the siren, rebuilding the fire station and community center, or to build a school bus-stop shelter on the site of the old fire station.
