The annual Panther Relays are today, and many of our area schools will be in Knoxville competing, some for just the first or second time outdoors. Much to the dismay of the track coaches, the Relays aren’t the only thing going on this weekend; Pella has their prom, so many of their kids will be leaving after only a few events, and Pella Christian has a band concert being put on at the school. Eagles’ head girls’ coach, Kevin Herdegen says that with the Panther Relays taking place so early in the season, he’s focused on just shuffling girls around in different events, which is helpful to the younger members of the team. Head boys’ coach at Pella, Brent Van Hauen says that winning isn’t everything when it comes to track meets, and that will ring true this morning. The Panther Relays get going at 10:30 a.m. at the Knoxville High track.
