An ordinance adjusting the speed limit on East Vermeer Road was adopted at Tuesday’s Pella City Council meeting.  The ordinance maintained the current 25 mile per hour speed limit from East 8th to East 13th streets, while reducing the speed limit from 45 to 35 miles per hour from East 13th Street, out to 240th Place.  The adoption was the final step in a lengthy discussion on the issue, which began in the fall of 2009.

In other business, the council accepted the recommendation of the city’s engineer to award Academy Roofing and Sheet Metal Company the contract for the replacement of the roof of the Public Safety Complex.  The bid came in at $220,000 for the removal of the existing roof and the installation of a new roof system with a 20-year warranty, including insulation.

The Pella City Council also approved the reappointments of Chris Davidson to the Building Code Board of Appeals, and Mike Kiser and Patsy Cody to the Community Development Committee.  Davidson’s term will expire on August 1, 2015, while Kiser and Cody’s terms will expire on August 1, 2013.
