The Pella High Lady Dutch basketball team will be looking to bounce back tonight, while the boys look to make it four in a row as Oskaloosa comes to town to begin Pella’s Little Hawkeye Conference play. The Lady Dutch couldn’t muster any offense in a 49 – 27 loss to a Top 10 ranked Ballard team on Tuesday. Things won’t get any easier with the Indians, as Oskaloosa is also one of the top ranked teams in the state. Pella head girls’ coach, Jerod Garland, said that it’s going to take his girls’ best game of the year so far to come away with a win. For the Little Dutch, they are riding a three-game win streak to start their 2012-13 season, and are looking to keep up the intensity facing a 1 – 2 Indians team. The Pella boys beat Ballard in a close affair Tuesday, 54 – 44, but head coach Mark Core was unhappy with their defense, mainly on the transition, and said they need to really turn it up to stop a couple key players for Oskaloosa. Tonight’s girls/boys doubleheader between the two Little Hawkeye Conference teams will be aired live on 92.1 FM KRLS with Cory Houser and Randy Sikkema calling the game. Pregame coverage of the girls’ game starts immediately after Focus on the Family, and tipoff is at 6:15 p.m. You can also stream the game live on kniakrls.com.
