Pella High figures to put on another strong showing today at the Class 3A District & Regional Meet. The Dutch have overwhelmed their competition throughout much of the season and are heavy favorites to qualify for the State Meet.

For the second time this season, Pella is running on the course at Pine Knolls Country Club in Knoxville, and head coach Doug Cutler says that is something that should benefit his teams, as they take on some skilled competition.

“On the guys’ side, we’ll be racing Knoxville and Grinnell like we seem to every year. It’s what we do, and we know that they’ll be ready for us. They know what to do, and they know the course as well as we do, and they’ll be up for the challenge,” says Cutler. “On the girls’ side, we get to see Williamsburg and Benton, which we expect to have very fine squads. There are also some outstanding individuals from Knoxville and Grinnell.”

“It’s going to be a fun race. Running at Pine Knolls is a challenging course. I really enjoy it for the hills and the challenge before we go to State, which is very flat – kind of like Norwalk – so I like the change of pace and the different aspects.”

The Class 3A girls race will open the meet, starting at around 5:00 p.m. tonight in Knoxville.
