The Plant a Wish project is on a mission to plant one native tree in all 50 states and Iowa’s tree will be planted in Marion County this evening. Knoxville was chosen as the site based on Peace Tree Brewing Company’s Earth Day tree giveaway. The planting event will take place on the east edge of town at the old Maid-Rite building at 5:30pm, and the Plant a Wish project will be recording the event as part of a documentary on the importance of native trees.

Following the planting event, the fun continues at Peace Tree where prizes will be awarded to the Biggest Trees of Marion County contest and stories about the hunt to find the biggest tress in the area will be shared. The evening will end with live music from Thankful Dirt, an Americana and folk music duo from Des Moines.
