The Pleasantville softball team opened Class 2A regional action with a 6-2 home win over Central Decatur Friday night.

Giving up just two seventh inning runs to the Cardinals, the Trojans were in control for most of the night. Pleasantville scored the contest’s first six runs, plating single scores in the first and sixth frames and four runs in the fourth inning. Sydney Septer led the Trojans offense in the opening round victory, going 3-for-4 with two RBIs on the night. Carly Cox struck out eight to earn the complete game win, allowing just two unearned runs on two hits and a walk.

The Pleasantville Softball team improved to 11-20 overall on the summer, and they will next travel to Interstate 35 on Wednesday for their second-round matchup.
