The Knoxville Police Department is investigating a counterfeit bill that a customer tried to use as payment. Chief Dan Losada tells KNIA/KRLS news the counterfeit $100 bill was given to a clerk at the Kum and Go station on the east side of town this morning. If you receive what you believe could be a counterfeit bill, Losada recommends going to the U.S. Secret Service website at www.secretservice.gov to compare the bill to legal currency. If confirmed, residents are asked to call the police department immediately.
