Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat says that this past weekend’s prescription drug pickup was a great success. Goemaat tells KNIA/KRLS News that more than 50 pounds of prescription pills were turned in at the Law Enforcement Center, valued at thousands of dollars. Those drugs have been turned over to the Drug Enforcement Agency to be properly disposed of. Turning in the drugs keeps people from abusing them. It also is safer than flushing them down the toilet, which can contaminate water supplies and hurt wildlife.
