Nancy Hulgan, county coordinator with Red Rock Community Action, says that they have been inundated with applications for heating assistance in the last few days. She says with propane prices spiking anywhere between $4.05 and $6.09 through different vendors, it could cost between $1600 and $2400 to fill a tank, and that is putting a hardship on a lot of people. Hulgan says the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program could possibly help shoulder some of that burden, and the requirements have been adjusted to allow for the very cold weather and the spike in prices.
